MOLD REMEDIATION AND PREVENTION SERVICES
Pro-Tech Restoration Services provides certified mold remediation services to the Fort Myers, Naples, Cape Coral, and Southwest Florida area and has always been an advocate of mold prevention as the first line of defense against mold and mildew attacks. We have provided some valuable information on the prevention of mold and mildew growth and also the mold remediation/ removal process we follow in the event the mold is already present and in need of mold remediation and restoration services.
Prevention
- Promptly repair faulty plumbing at the source (dripping sink, leaking toilet etc.) and also repair any leaks in the plumbing pipes within the walls.
- Keep an eye out for condensation and wet spots, determine the source(s) of moisture problem(s) as soon as possible and execute a plan to halt the moisture collection from happening.
- Prevent moisture due to condensation by increasing surface temperature or reducing the moisture level in air (humidity). To increase surface temperature, insulate or increase air circulation. To reduce the moisture level in air, repair leaks, increase ventilation (if outside air is cold and dry), or dehumidify if outdoor air is warm and humid as with typical Fort Myers and Naples tropical weather.
- Always keep air conditioning drip pans clean, flowing properly, and unobstructed and have your unit inspected and maintained regularly.
- Make certain your clothes dryer and range vent is properly vented outdoors, and unobstructed.
- Maintain low indoor humidity, below 60% relative humidity (RH), ideally 30-50%, if possible.
- Clean and thoroughly dry wet or damp spots within 48 hours.
- Don't let foundations stay wet. Provide drainage and slope the ground away from the foundation if possible.

Remediation Plan
Pro-Tech's Mold Remediation Service Technicians realize each case of mold and moisture damage is unique, and they are trained to immediately evaluate the situation and provide the most effective methods to remove, cleanup, or remediate your Fort Myers or Naples property from all mold or black mold. Our Certified Mold Remediation Technicians and Project Managers will consult with you before any work begins. Unfortunately, in some cases, certain items may not be able to be restored or it may be more cost-effective to replace the item, Pro-Tech Restoration Services is here to help you make that determination.
In the event that the size and type of the area affected by mold or black mold growth is deemed unsafe or unhealthy for occupants, a decision to relocate occupants should be considered based on the potential health risks that could be associated with debris and the amount of disruption likely to be caused by removal, cleanup, or mold remediation activities. In Fort Myers and Naples office buildings, when possible, Pro-Tech's Mold Remediation Services will schedule the remediation activities during off-hours when building occupants are less likely to be affected by the mold removal.

Cleanup Methods
Pro-Tech Restoration Services will utilize several mold removal and moisture remediation methods on the Naples or Fort Myers damaged building materials and furnishings. The specific method or group of methods used will depend on the type of material affected, listed below are just a few of those methods.
Method 1: Wet Vacuum
Wet vacuums are vacuum cleaners designed to collect water and moisture. Generally they are used to remove water from floors, wet carpets, and hard surfaces where water has accumulated. This may be one of the first steps of your mold or moisture remediation and restoration.
Method 2: Damp Wipe
Once the excess water has been removed, mold can generally be removed from nonporous (hard) surfaces by wiping or scrubbing with water, or water and detergent. Pro-Tech Restoration Services has specialized cleaning products that are specifically designed to remove the mold and mildew and assist with inhibiting the future growth of mold and mildew when preventative procedures are followed.
Method 3: HEPA Vacuum
The Pro-Tech Restoration Services HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) vacuums are utilized for final cleanup of mold remediation areas after all damaged materials have been thoroughly dried and mold contaminated materials removed. Our HEPA vacuums are also used for cleanup of dust that may have settled on surfaces outside the mold remediation area.
Method 4: Discard
Proper disposal of the water or mold damaged materials is imperative and Pro-Tech Restoration Mold Remediation Technicians follow all EPA mold standards by double-bagging the affected materials in 6-mil polyethylene sheeting and placing in the assigned mold disposal area. |
